About

Kate Winter writes dark, discomforting melancholic ballads.

Influenced by the eeriness of traditional folk, the sentimentality of American country and the rage and brutality of 90s groove metal, Kate probes the places we fear to go with both sorrowful and uplifting lyrics, powerful, searing vocals and haunting orchestral arrangements.

She pours her pain into her music, which is intermittently hopeless and hopeful; filled with straight to the heart one liners and beguiling melodies.

Kate has been a musician for 25 years and has performed in heavy metal and rock bands all over the UK supporting acts like Nashville Pussy, Pig Iron and Savage Messiah. As a session musician she has toured Europe. For 15 years she has coached professional vocalists from her home on the South Coast.

Child is her first solo release and takes the listener on a sometimes disturbing, often revealing journey through her own trauma and childhood abuse. Raw, honest and haunting, it speaks hope to those suffering. Child is released in March 2023 and is available on all streaming platforms.
